Past Projects

  • Repaired timber floor

    Timber floor repair

After the removal of an old heater there was a big hole in the floor of this Wynyard house. The extra room in the hallway was welcome, but the missing floor wasn’t. Matt trimmed the floor back to a solid point, extended the joists and cut new floorboards to match the existing ones which were an odd size.

  • Pine skirting boards

    Reproduction skirting boards

After the removal of a built in cupboard the client was left with a gap in the skirting boards. Matt made new skirting boards to match the existing ones on the walls, which were two different profiles. The client feels comfortable painting these to match the old ones then they’ll blend right in.

  • Wood plane and shavings next to patched hole

    Floor plug

A water heater was removed, leaving a few holes in the floor. The small ones can be filled with epoxy filler, but the bigger one needed a more solid solution. Matt cleaned up the hole with a router, then made and installed a plug that will blend into the floor once it’s sanded.

  • Post and rail fencing

    Post and rail fencing

This experiment in treated pine post and rail fencing went very well. It’s a cost effective alternative to hardwood and should last a very long time.

  • Fence posts and wire

    Wallaby proof fencing

Padymelons are cute, but when they eat all your pasture they need to be kept out. Matt Built a wallaby proof fence for a horse paddock in Sisters Beach.

"Matt transformed the large hole in our beautiful old Tas Oak flooring into something that is not only functional but also retained the beauty of the original floor. After exhausting all other options, Matt beautifully crafted modern timber into the size, shape, and colour you see in the photos. Matt consulted with us throughout the project, taking time to ensure we got the outcome we we were seeking. Matt's skill, craft, and gentle patience made it a pleasure to have him working in our home."

“I highly recommend Tinkers Farm Handyman Service. Matt's approach to handyman services is unique and incredibly valuable—he not only performs high-quality repairs but also teaches his clients the skills needed to tackle similar tasks on their own in the future.

Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Matt when I was struggling to repair a section of skirting board. Matt not only fixed the problem efficiently but also took the time to show me the techniques and tools needed to handle such repairs myself, including accompanying me on a trip to Bunnings to source the items needed for the repair. His patience, expertise, and dedication to empowering his clients truly sets Tinkers Farm Handyman Service apart from other handyman businesses.

If you're looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and personable handyman who will not only get the job done but also leave you better equipped for future projects, I wholeheartedly recommend Matt Twin and Tinkers Farm Handyman Service.”
